Erie County Communities Receive More Than $3.65 Million in Infrastructure, Arts Funding

HARRISBURG – State Sen. Dan Laughlin (R-49) today announced the approval of more than $3.65 million in state assistance for water, sewer and arts -related purposes in Erie County.

The following recipients were approved for funding by the Commonwealth Financing Authority:

Greene Township – $817,000

The funds will be used for the construction of various water infrastructure implements along Kirsch Road, Kane Hill Road, Hartmann Road and Morehouse Road in Greene Township.

City of Erie – $319,580

The funds will be used for a pollution reduction project located along Garrison Road in Erie City.

Albion Borough – $276,550

The funds will be used to rehabilitate existing stormwater infrastructure in Albion Borough.

Millcreek Township – $500,000

The funds will be used for the replacement of the Kearsarge Station sanitary sewer collection system’s force main line in Millcreek Township.

North East Borough – $586,870

The funds will be used for a North East Borough water line replacement project.

Union City Borough – $393,609

The funds will be used to upgrade Union City Borough storm sewers.           

Albion Borough – $421,748 

The funds will be used to replace Albion Borough waterlines.

Summit Township Sewer Authority – $70,000

The funds will be used to replace sanitary sewer pipes in Summit Township.

 Arts Council of Erie dba Erie Arts and Culture – $82,500

The fund will be used to distribute pandemic recovery payments to arts and culture professionals as the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts regranting organization for region 1 that includes Erie, Crawford, Warren, Mercer, Lawrence and Venango Counties.   

City of Erie Cable TV Access Corp. dba Community Access Media – $28,436

The funds will be used for operating expenses for the Erie City arts organization.  

Cultures, Arts, Festivals, and Events of Erie dba CAFÉ – $20,811

The funds will be used for operating expenses for the Erie City cultural organization.       

Erie Art Museum – $22,944

The funds will be used to offset lost revenue for the Erie City art museum.

Erie Civic Theatre Association dba Erie Playhouse – $35,625

The funds will be used to offset lost revenue for the Erie City performing arts organization.         

Erie Philharmonic, Inc. – $65,079

The funds will be used to offset operating costs for the Erie City orchestra.

ExpERIEnce Children’s Museum – $14,819

The funds will be used for operating costs of the Erie City children’s museum.      

“Many of these grants help with the extreme cost of water and sewer projects for several Erie County municipalities. This assistance will go a long way toward improving the health and safety of our communities,” said Laughlin. “And while health and safety are important to the quality of life for everyone, so are the arts, and some of these grants will ensure cultural institutions will continue to be able to enrich all of our lives.”
