Erie County Museums Receive Nearly $27,000 in State Grant Funding

HARRISBURG – A total of nearly $27,000 in state grant funding has been awarded to Erie County museums, announced Sen. Dan Laughlin (R-49).

“The Hagen History Center, formerly known as the Erie County Historical Society, focuses on the history of Erie County for the past 200 years, while for more than 25 years, the expERIEnce Children’s Museum has offered a safe, family-centered educational experience to inspire creativity and imagination in children,” said Laughlin. “The funding will help both of these valuable institutions continue to serve the Erie community.”

The funding comes by way of the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission’s Cultural and Historical Support Grant Program. The Hagen History Center received a $16,676 grant, and the expERIEnce Children’s Museum was awarded a $10,235 grant.

The goal of the grant program is to strengthen Pennsylvania’s museum community by supporting the general operations of eligible museums and official county historical societies that are not supported by other state agency funding programs.
