The Senate plans to convene on at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, to consider a number of measures designed to offer relief to Pennsylvanians affected by the COVID-19 coronavirus, according to Senator Dan Laughlin.
For the first time, Senators will meet online for session instead of traveling to Harrisburg. Meeting remotely is part of statewide efforts to promote social distancing to limit the spread of the virus. In order to ensure transparency and public access, session will be streamed live at www.PAsenateGOP.com.
Some of the measures the Senate could consider include legislation to change the date of Pennsylvania’s primary election, update Unemployment Compensation laws to extend relief to affected employees, change provisions of the School Code to address missed instructional time for students, and support healthcare facilities and workers that are on the front lines of Pennsylvania’s efforts to treat patients affected by the virus.
