Senator Laughlin to Chair Senate Game & Fisheries Committee

Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati today (January 7) appointed Senator Dan Laughlin to serve as Chairman of the Senate Game & Fisheries Committee for the 2019-20 Legislative Session.

Senator Laughlin is an avid outdoorsman and is the author of legislation that would empower the Game Commission to permit Sunday hunting and modernize the antlerless deer licensing process.

“I am truly looking forward to taking over this Committee which oversees recreational activities enjoyed by thousands of Pennsylvanians,” said Senator Laughlin. “We will be considering issue that not only impact our sportsmen and our wildlife, but also the communities where these activities are popular.

“I would like to thank Senator Scarnati for considering me for this chairmanship, and I intend to make this an extremely active committee with the help of my good friend and Democratic Chairman, Senator Jim Brewster.” Senator Laughlin continued. “My goal is to make Pennsylvania the number one state for sportsmen and women, and also to re-engage our youth in outdoor activities.”

Senator Laughlin’s other committee assignments are expected to be announced in mid-January. During the recently completed 2017-18 Legislative Session he served as Vice Chairman of the Aging & Youth Committee and as a member of the Banking & Insurance, Community, Economic and Recreational Development, Game & Fisheries, Labor & Industry, Majority Policy, and Urban Affairs & Housing committees.
